Halloween or All Hallows Eve is my faaaavourite holiday by far, and yes I love it even more than Christmas. It's not one that's particularly celebrated in Slovenia, but I've still been carving pumpkins since I was little. I love pumpkins, witches and the supernatural in general. It's just very interesting and spices life up a bit. It's a night off for vampires, demons and the forces of darkness, let's just hope Ethan Rayne doesn't come along (there's a Buffy The Vampire Slayer reference for you!). As an adult you can't really go trick or treating so I thought I'd give you a few ideas of things you can do on Halloween, so you can celebrate and get into the Halloween spirit with me.
The thing about autumn is that you can have Halloween decorations up for the whole of it, because pumpkins and autumnal decorations already scream Halloween to me. Cauldrons, brooms, pumpkins, dried leaves, candy corn, straw, dried corn, autumnal flowers... there are lots of things you can use that aren't childish, but can still make you feel festive. You can of course go all out with zombie dolls and whatnot, but if you want a subtle approach, this is perfect. Carving pumpkins is also a great thing you can do to both get in the spirit and decorate your home ;).
2. Dress up your furry friends
I'm not too keen on people dressing up their pets, but I just put my bat headband from last years Halloween on my Buffy, and it fit her perfectly. She felt so special and in the centre of attention, that she properly posed for me, and even gave me this epic yawn that looks like a scary rawr! I love her <3.
3. Cook a delicious pumpkin meal
Whether it's pumpkin pie or toffee apples, cooking up something delicious and autumnal just adds to the spirit of All Hallows Eve. Make your home smell like pumpkin central and light up some scented candles for that extra touch.
4. Watch scary movies
I just might watch all the Buffy Halloween episodes, because they're just awesome, I've watched BTVS about eight times now.. major fan here, so that's settled I think. I would also recommend Stranger things, which you can just binge watch because there's only 8 episodes out.
5. Dress up
You can still totally dress up for Halloween as an adult. I'm gonna be a fox this year, because I like foxes and I'm into orange and yellow at the moment, so it seemed right.
6. DIY your own costume
There's nothing that will make you more proud of your creative skills, than making your own costume. It can be a cool 3D makeup look, or felt ears, a dress... Go all out, it's gonna be worth it.
I hope you like these simple ideas to make tomorrow special and interesting. I'm definitely also treating myself to a nice Lush sparkly pumpkin bath as well ;).
☾ Enjoy and HAPPY HALLOWEEN! ☽
